Events for Kellogg Alumni and TopGrad organized by Ms. Cimino as part of her Volunteer activities:

45 - TopGradAlumni Tennis Club - Started in the Fall, 2005 - Gold Coast, Grant Park/Randolph St.

We started a Tennis Club for Kellogg and TopGradAlumni who live or work in this area, and enjoy playing tennis.  If you are interested in playing, send a message to LucyCimino@clickmortar.com and include your name, school, year that you graduated, neighborhood you live and work, and range of skill level in tennis, using the USTA rating.  Example: you might be 3.5 in bad days up to 4.0 in good days.  There is a brief description of skill levels below that might be helpful for those that do not know their USTA rating.

Our current group has players of 3.0 to 4.5 USTA rating, and we are playing on Sundays from 4:00 to 5:30 pm.   If interested send me an e-mail to get additional details.

Current Group:

Sunday Afternoon - 4:00 - 5:30 pm -- Skill Level 3.0 to 4.5
PS: Followed by drinks in a nearby place for those available.

We will consider other options of time to play as listed below as the group grows.  So if it does not work currently for you on Sundays, send me a message to stay in the waiting list for future groups:

Saturday Morning - 9:00 - 10:30 am
Tuesday - 6:00 - 7:30 pm

Lucy
Chair, TopGradAlumni Tennis Club

Skill Level:

  • Basic:  This level is for recreational players. Specific skills will vary with stroke but in general, either the forehand or backhand are inconsistent. Play is sometimes a bloopy type shot. First serves sometimes go in and have some pace, while second serves are lobbed. Net play is fair and court coverage is adequate. USTA rating of 2.0 - 2.9
  • Intermediate:  This level is for intermediate level players. Ground strokes are more consistent and players usually have a strong forehand or backhand but usually one is noticeably better. The first serve is solid and consistent and the second serve is done with some pace. Net play and court coverage are good. USTA rating of between 3.0 and 3.9
  • Advanced:  This level is for advanced level players. All aspects of the game are solid and only in strategy or mobility will weaknesses be evident. Both first and second service are strong. USTA rating of 4.0 - 4.9
