Events for Kellogg Alumni and TopGrad organized by Ms. Cimino as part of her Volunteer activities:

36 - Lucy's Book Club - November 14, 2004 - "The First 90 Days: Critical Success Strategies for New Leaders at All Levels" by Michael Watkins.

We had another great book discussion on Monday about "The Innovator's Solution: Creating and Sustaining Successful Growth" by Clayton M. Christensen, and Michael E. Raynor!  Thank you also for all the messages that I received: 1) asking me to keep your name on my book club list even if you have not been able to attend some of our meeting; 2) thanking me for the good selection of books that we have had so far: 3) and thanking me for creating this opportunity for peer-to-peer book discussion and renewal of our management knowledge.  It was nice to know that you have enjoyed the books even when you were not able to attend the meeting, and that you have enjoyed our discussions when you were able to attend.  As you know, we have defined the areas of interest for this book club going forward as being General Management, Marketing, Strategy, Sales and Biographies since these are the areas of interest of the group that has been attending the meetings most frequently.

Based on feedback from our recent survey about preferred day of the week to meet for this book club, most people reported preference for Sundays because we can meet in a more relaxed environment, easier parking and no traffic for people coming from the suburbs (we have heard you!).  So we will be meeting on the 3rd Sunday evening (except around holidays) of Odd months at 6:00 PM to 7:30 PM with option of dinner later.  Check our next meeting "location" in the details below.

We selected the book for our next meeting!  Another top seller book that should be helpful in any promotions, transitions, projects with new groups, etc.: "The First 90 Days: Critical Success Strategies for New Leaders at All Levels" by Michael Watkins.  It is a light book and it has been in the Wall Street Journal Best Seller list and Business Week Best Seller list for months.  It is a Five-Start, very well rated book at Amazon.com.  Buy the book and start reading!  Feel free to forward this message and invite your Kellogg friends for our meetings.  I hope to see everyone in our next meeting on November 14th for another great book discussion!  Please RSVP to Lucy Cimino by 11/12/04 mailto:lucycimino@clickmortar.com .

If you are a Kellogg Alum that received this message from a friend, but are not receiving messages about this book club regularly, send a message to mailto:lucycimino@clickmortar.com to start receiving information.  This Book Club is open to all Kellogg Alumni.

Best regards,

Lucy
Chair, Lucy's Book Club of Kellogg Alumni

Note:  If you missed my e-mail from July, remember that the KACC has a separate book club with Tim, and he canceled their first meeting in September, as he had not selected a book for that Book Group for September.  He will be defining the objectives and interests of that group in the near future per his e-mail.  To avoid confusion among book clubs, the group that I lead is referred as Lucy's Book Club of Kellogg Alumni, and all Kellogg Alumni are welcome to attend our meetings.
